Don't Miss Out on Your Dental Benefits This Year

As we enter into the final quarter of the year, it becomes more important than ever that you schedule any needed dental work at Murray Hill Dental. Why? It’s use them or lose them season, meaning that your dental benefits probably expire at the end of the year. Unless you schedule a dental exam soon, you’ll be stuck paying premiums and deductibles for dental work in 2017.

Why is it Important to Use My Dental Benefits?

Let’s say that you have $400 of dental benefits remaining for 2016, and you need $1,000 of dental work. Were you to put off your dental care until January, you’d be losing out on $400. Think of what you could do with that money… (hint: pay off some post-holiday credit card bills!) Rather than letting your benefits go to waste, we encourage you to schedule the dental work you’ve been putting off.

How can I Find Out if I have any Dental Benefits Remaining?

The best way to determine if you have dental benefits remaining is to visit your insurance company’s website or to call them directly. Generally speaking, most insurance coverage ends on December 31st, but you should double check with your provider. You can also find this information in the Explanation of Benefits packet you received from your insurance company earlier this year.

Along those same lines, if you’ve been contributing to a Flexible Spending Account or Health Savings Plan, now is the time to contact your Plan Administrator to find out if you have any benefits left. Sometimes these types of benefits don’t roll over into the new year.

What Types of Dental Services can I use My Benefits on?

The answer to this question depends on the dental insurance provider you use—please check your coverage for specifics. We recommend that you consider a routine dental checkup, or if coverage permits, Zoom teeth whitening. Also, if you’ve been putting off much-needed dental work, now’s a great time to schedule dental implants, crowns, or bridges.
