Dental implants offer patients a permanent way to replace missing teeth. With an implant, a small metal post is inserted into the jawbone and then, a permanent or removable crown is affixed to it. Although this is usually the best option for replacing missing teeth, patients sometimes wonder how they can afford to pay for the procedure. Read on for our tips.
Talk to Your Insurance Company.
Your first step should be to find out exactly what your insurance company will cover. While implants aren’t typically covered by insurance, some plans might cover a portion of the cost, particularly if you see an in-network provider. At Murray Hill Dental, we are in-network with most insurance providers.
If your insurance plan doesn’t cover dental implants—and you plan to get them anyway—ask your insurance company if they’d be willing to give you an allowance toward what a bridge or dentures would cost. Those dental procedures do tend to be partially covered by insurance.
Finally, you may want to consider a dental insurance alternative plan that does cover dental implants. As with other insurance plans, these also usually require you to see an in-network provider.
Consider CareCredit Financing.
We understand that dental implants can be an expensive investment. That’s why we’re pleased to offer financing through the CareCredit healthcare credit card. If you qualify for CareCredit, you can finance your dental implants. Then, you can just make small monthly payments until you’ve paid the balance off.
In particular, CareCredit can be a great choice if you need or want dental restoration right away. It gives you the opportunity to start the dental implant treatment process immediately. Then, you’ll only have to make a small payment each month. Alternatively, as your income grows or once you get that much-anticipated refund check from the IRS, you can pay the balance off in its entirety.
Discuss Your Treatment Options with Us.
If you’re not sure how to pay for dental implants, let us know. In those cases where you require multiple implants, we may be able to schedule them all at once to reduce your treatment costs.
If dental implants are still out of reach, we’ll help you evaluate more affordable options of teeth restoration, like bridges and dentures.
Start an FSA.
If you don’t require dental implants immediately, a flexible savings account may be a good option. Many employers offer FSAs which allow you to put pre-tax dollars aside for medical care. Depending on your tax bracket, an “FSA can save you as much as 20%” (New York Times) on the cost of dental implants.
